Over the summer, our grade read the book called “Finding Someplace” by Denice-Lewis-Patrick. It’s about a girl named Teresa(Reesie) who got stuck in the middle of hurricane Katrina on her 13th birthday. She took up shelter with her elderly neighbor Miss Martine and her friend’s brother André and his wife Eritrea. It’s also about her and her parents’ journey in the aftermath.

When we came back for school, we did two projects. The first one was a Hero essay. We would choose a character and wrote about why we think they are heroes in the book. I chose Miss Martine.

We also did the BackPack project, where we took a blank backpack sheet and drew all the things we would take if a natural disaster came by and we had to leave soon.

Overall, it was a very fun project!
